GAME NOTICE
Unfortunately, we've decided to postpone the game until a different time. We feel that fleshing out the pages and finding a better time for a game to open might be the best option. We're so sorry!

Premise
The full premise can be found here.

Reach is a panfandom science fiction and body horror game with adult themes and graphic content that is centered around the exploration of the Haze. Characters are either brought in via the Haze or au’d into the setting and will stay on the island for the duration of their time here.

Entrance procedure
On the applications page, there are two separate forms. The first is for those who are apping in characters that have always lived in this world. The player will need to take their character’s history and alter it so that it fits - this world is exactly like the one we live in right now, down to the year. They will have gone through the natural disasters and the haze’s arrival, as mentioned in the premise. The second form is for those that don’t want to au their character in and the application is standard to what is typically found in a dreamwidth game. These two options are in place so that players can choose their character’s own unique arrival and storyline. Life will be different depending on which one is chosen and more information can be found below.

Arrival
After acceptance into the game, your character will arrive on the Reach in one of two ways. Either by ship, brought by the coalition because your character’s name was on the first list, and with complete knowledge of the haze, disasters, and what followed or the character will appear outside of the coalition’s camp, accompanied by a burst of colored mist, recall exactly who they are from their respective canon, but with no knowledge of how they got there or why. There are pros and cons to either side. The game start will begin right at this point and develop further as the plot pushes forward.

Reach packs
Each character will be given a backpack. Inside is a jacket, wetsuit, black fatigues, casual wear, and one set of night wear. Other necessities are available at certain locations. The communicator, pictured here, is durable and has text, audio, and video. Anon communication is disabled.

Transportation
Vehicles do not work on the Reach. All travel is currently by foot. Work those calf muscles.

Alternate technology
The communicators are for personal use, with few functions, but the coalition camp and the tower also have computers set up in main areas. Characters can login and access the network from these, browse google, and use modern apps (facebook, instagram, etc.). Televisions with dvd players, radios, household appliances, and more can be found.

Language barriers
There are language barriers in this game. If a character is deaf, they’ll need to use their device as a way to communicate if the other character does not know sign language. Each phone has standard language translation software, like this, but it has to be manually used in order to work (it isn’t perfect and the character will have to make sure to have their phone with them). This is to add a realistic tone when it comes to language. If your character cannot speak or understand a certain language, they might have trouble communicating with others. Players can choose to handwave that their character using the device, write it into their tags, or for those who enjoy it, can plot to have miscommunication issues.

Events and plot
Each month after the game opens, an ooc post will go up for characters to use for planning. There will be an arrival log for newcomers and then a plot log; the first will be more standard, allowing characters to meet and for cr to be created. The plot logs will be either mod or player plots. Events will be a mix of or entirely focus on one of the following: the haze, the island, the coalition, expeditions and may have any of these general topics: horror, body horror, exploration, science fiction, science, death, sex, and very little to no slice of life.

Time
Reach has a 1:1 ratio and follows the schedule of current time, EST.

Activity rules
When the activity check goes up at the beginning of the month, each player must provide the following:

Ten log comments or twenty network/inbox comments

These can be spread out over more than one thread, but must have taken place during the month the check is for. Below are rules for our reward system.

Reward System

If a player threads out one of the graphic content criteria on the list, they get that reward level. The player submits a link during ac to the thread and the mod will respond to their comment with what their reward will be when activity check is over. The length of thread isn't specific - it depends on when the graphic content occurs. Examples of possible rewards: Say there is a game-wide lack of water due to contamination. A player who gets a level ten might get the reward of their character ICly discovering a jug of water. A level five might be a character ICly discovering six water purification tablets. A level one could be that the character is immune to the contamination and may consume as much water as they need. Full information is here.

Powers
Characters that apply in under the au form will be standard humans and cannot have superpowers at this time. Characters that use the alternate application form, arriving via the Haze, may retain all abilities with a simple caveat. They cannot leave the island and any powers that would allow that will be inaccessible.

Deaths
Each character can die twice before any major consequences occur. The first two times that they die, they will appear in the same way that Haze arrivals do and can have alterations to their memories, powers, and skills. Each death requires a mod discussion. Simply reply to the corresponding page.

Dropped characters
Characters that have idled out will have been sent on an expedition from which they did not return. Players who drop officially can choose whether their character went on an expedition and didn’t come back or if they died permanently. When the character is apped in by someone else, the character will have no knowledge of the previous versions time in game. The page can be found here.

Hiatuses and canon updates
Hiatuses and canon updates are ICly handled as if the character fell ill and was taken to the coalition camp for treatment. When the hiatus or canon update is over, their sickness will have passed and they may go back into the game setting as the player sees fit.

Appable characters
Canon, original, canon au, crau, and player-created protagonists. Each character is still subject to the rules for either application form and only one version of each character is allowed into the game, whether they are au’d or the normal version. For example, if a player apps in the game setting version of Jake Peralta there cannot also be the canon version. Please read the entrance instructions. If you’re unsure about a character, please ask.

Age limits
There are no age restrictions on characters but all players must be over 18.

Number of characters
Players can play two characters in the game at once and they can be apped in at the same time or during different application cycles. More characters are subject to proof of high activity levels.

Graphic content
This game will touch on many different topics, some of which will delve into triggery material. Examples of content that could occur are death, murder, implied suicide, blood, violence, body horror, vivid and brutal realistic acts, sex, betrayal, manipulation, mind games, and more.
